Earlier this week, we reported that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had signed a massive content deal with Netflix. Reports subsequently came out stating that the deal was worth $150 millions, but insiders are now scoffing at that figure and saying that they likely got far less than that, much to the humiliation of the royals.

A top Hollywood agent told Page Six that he would be “shocked if [the ex-royals’] deal was worth more than $2 million per year.” Others pointed out that Shonda Rhimes, the creator of “Grey’s Anatomy,” has a $150 million deal with Netflix, while “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris’ Netflix deal is reported to be worth $100 million. The sources said Meghan and Harry “are going to be producers, not content creators” like Rhimes.

“Hollywood is all about ‘comps,’ ” one Oscar-nominated producer said, referring to comparable salaries around the industry.

“If I was their agent, I would’ve asked Netflix to give me the Obama money,” not the amount of a proven Hollywood player, the producer added.

It has not been publicly revealed just how much Barack and Michelle Obama’s deal with Netflix was worth. It also has not been revealed how many years Harry and Meghan’s pact with the streaming service will run.

This comes days after Meghan and Harry’s deal with Netflix was announced.

“Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope,” Harry and Meghan told the New York Times after the announcement. “As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us.”

The royals went on to say that Netflix’s “unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action.”

“We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-chief executive and chief content officer.

After stepping down as senior royals earlier this year, Harry and Meghan briefly relocated to Canada before moving to her hometown of Los Angeles, California. There, they lived in the Beverly Hills mansion of Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry until they bought their own home in the nearby city of Santa Barbara back in July.
