Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just went full Hollywood as they signed a lucrative production deal with Netflix.

Fox News reported that the multi-year production deal will include exclusive content like documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.

“Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope,” Harry and Meghan told the New York Times. “As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us.”

The royals went on to say that Netflix’s “unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action.”

As of this month, Netflix has 193 million subscribers around the world.

“We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-chief executive and chief content officer.

Harry and Meghan are following in the footsteps of Barack and Michelle Obama, who signed a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix in 2018 to produce shows and movies. Executives with Netflix have said that the Obamas have since acted as magnets for other deals, given how popular they are in Hollywood.

“The value of this signing to Netflix is unquantifiable,” Jonathan Shalit, chairman of InterTalent Rights Group. “Never before has a real-life royal of this magnitude gone commercial and to Hollywood.”

Prior to her marriage to Harry, Meghan spent years trying to make it as an actress before finally finding a steady role on the television show “Suits.” Though she reportedly has no plans to act in front of the camera again, she did recently lend her voice to narrate the Disney documentary Elephants earlier this year.

After stepping down as senior royals earlier this year, Harry and Meghan briefly relocated to Canada before moving to her hometown of Los Angeles, California. There, they lived in the Beverly Hills mansion of Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry until they bought their own home in the nearby city of Santa Barbara back in July.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved into their family home in July of this year,” the spokesperson for the couple said last month. “They have settled into the quiet privacy of their community since their arrival and hope that this will be respected for their neighbors, as well as them as a family.”
