Over the many weeks of quarantine amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, country music legend Dolly Parton has stepped up over and over again to bring joy to her fans and make sure that they’re doing alright. Now, she has done this yet again by releasing her new quarantine-inspired song “When Life Is Good Again.”

Fox News reported that the song is inspired by the lessons Parton has learned during her time in quarantine, and it touches on things like compassion, thoughtfulness and living in the moment. During the song, the 74 year-old Parton pledges to bring these things with her back into her normal life once this is all over.

“When life is good again / I’ll be a better friend / A bigger person when / Life is good again / More thoughtful than I’ve been / I’ll be so different then / More in the moment when / Life is good again,” Parton sings in the song. “I’ll open up my heart / And let the whole world in / I’ll try to make amends / When life is good again.”

The song also touches on Parton’s strong Christian faith, which has helped her get through this crisis, as she prays to God. She also promises to pray and “repent for” her sins going forward.

The song ends with a message of hope, with Parton singing “it’s gonna be good again” before talking about all the things she plans to do. These things include activities that many of us took for granted in the past, such as going for a walk in the park or meeting old friends for a drink. The song concludes:

“God’s the reason for all things / You want rainbows, you get rain / We’ll all be forever changed / I’ll sail my boat and fly my kite / Walk in the park, go out at night / And hold my loved ones extra tight / When everything is on the mend / I’ll even drink with my old friends / Sing and play my mandolin / We’ll make it through this long dark night / Darkness fades when faced with light / And everything’s gonna be alright / When life is good again.”

Parton has taken an active role in helping the nation through the coronavirus pandemic, donating $1 million Vanderbilt University’s research towards finding a cure for COVID-19. God bless Parton for continuing to do everything in her power to help Americans through this difficult time.
