New reports are coming in stating that Meghan Markle is willing to testify in court as she sues a British publication for publishing a letter she had written to her father Thomas Markle that she says was “confidential.”

Fox News reported that on Friday, a preliminary hearing was held in the Meghan’s court case in the United Kingdom’s High Court, where she and her husband Prince Harry are believe to have joined virtually from their home in Los Angeles, California. Meghan is suing The Mail as well as its parent company Associated Newspapers for publishing a letter she wrote to her dad privately. The civil lawsuit claims that the publication committed copyright infringement, misuse of private information and violating the U.K.’s data protection law.

David Sherborne, Meghan’s attorney, spoke on her behalf at the hearing, where he let it be known that she would be willing to testify in the case.

“The defendant [Associated Newspapers] wants to cross-examine her [Meghan] as to whether that belief is reasonable or not – and they can do that,” Sherborne said.

Associated Newspapers has denied all of Meghan’s allegations against them, particularly that the letter was presented in a way that changed its meaning. Anthony White, a lawyer representing the publisher, told the judge during the hearing Meghan’s lawyers had made “further assertions of improper, deliberate conduct,” and accused the publisher of “harassing, humiliating, manipulating and exploiting” her father.

Thomas and Meghan have not spoken since her wedding, which he pulled out of going to at the last minute after suffering a heart attack. He has given various interviews since then saying that he was “ghosted” by his daughter after the wedding. White pointed out that Meghan had not spoken to her father in years in court this week as more evidence that her lawsuit has no merit.

“It appears that the claimant has seen fit to put these allegations on the record without having spoken to Mr Markle, verifying these allegations with him or obtaining his consent (she admits … that she has had no contact with him since the wedding),” he said, according to The Sun. “It is therefore highly unlikely that she has any credible basis for these allegations of impropriety towards him, or that proper particulars could be given.”

Meghan’s husband Harry has a strong bias against the press, as he blames them for the 1997 death of his mother Princess Diana, who was being chased by paparazzi when she was killed in a car crash.
