Meghan Markle and Prince Harry moved to Los Angeles, California from Vancouver just hours before the U.S. border with Canada was shut down to slow the spread of coronavirus. Now, a source close to the couple is saying that Meghan is reportedly “heartbroken” that COVID-19 has ruined her dream move back to Hollywood.

The insider said that Meghan is especially saddened that she can’t physically be around her mother Doria Ragland, who lives in L.A.

“After all, one of the main reasons she decided to live in L.A. was to be near her mum,” the source said, according to the U.K. Express. “They’ve been WhatsApping and FaceTiming almost daily but obviously it’s not the same.”

Harry and Meghan are taking social distancing so seriously that they don’t even feel comfortable going to see her mother, as it would put her at risk of exposure to coronavirus.

Meghan’s plans for her son Archie’s first birthday, which is on May 6, have also been ruined, as she had planned to return to the United Kingdom to celebrate the occasion with the royal family. Obviously, that will not be happening now, with royal sources confirming that “plans have changed.”

“I think the hope in royal circles had been that the Sussexes would return to the UK in May, either before or after their attendance at the Invictus Games in The Netherlands next month,” a source close to the situation said. “They were also due to attend the Queen’s Birthday Parade, Trooping the Colour on June 13. But with both those events now cancelled, and Harry and Meghan holed in California where they are likely to be social distancing for the next few weeks.”

“Archie is set to celebrate his first birthday with only his parents,” the insider added. “The hope had been that Archie’s first birthday would somehow be marked with some members of the royal family, cousins, grandparents and some godparents in the U.K. when they were over in the UK.”

Harry and Meghan came under fire this week for announcing the name of their new charity Archewell, which they named after their son, while the world is struggling to handle the coronavirus. However, the couple defended their actions by saying that they only revealed the name because the press had obtained documents related to the charity’s launch.
