Last week, we reported that Ellen DeGeneres was in hot water after staffers on her talk show came forward to say that they had been left in the dark for week about things like pay and the status of their employment. Days later, a famous beauty blogger spoke out about the ill treatment she claims to have received from DeGeneres while appearing on her show earlier in the year.

Now, an expert is weighing in on what impact this will all have on DeGeneres going forward, and he said it’s not going to be good for her.

“The behavior that’s been revealed about Ellen is rat poison to the Ellen DeGeneres brand,” brand expert Eric Schiffer, chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, told Fox News. “When you have a brand like Ellen’s leak information that is 180 degrees different than this facade she’s been painting, it creates a dumpster fire on her image and it’s like watching the Hindenburg.”

DeGeneres’ talk show is known for being full of light-hearted content, and she is constantly telling her audience to “be kind” to one another, but Schiffer said these latest revelations have left fans wondering if it was all an act.

“The way she’ll bounce back is to put on even more phonyness and play the game,” Schiffer said, going on to say that she will do this by “surrounding herself with other celebrities, puppies and babies to try to make light of things.”

Schiffer added that while this will work in winning over the most loyal members of her fanbase, he believes she won’t get all her fans back.

“I think she turned off 20 to 30 percent of her fan base with this,” he said.

Schiffer said that DeGeneres’ behavior looked particularly bad amidst the coronavirus pandemic because it came at a time when most Americans are struggling.

“When you have her complaining about her mansion life during the coronavirus and then having leaks from the staff talking about how they’ve been furloughed while she’s counting her millions — that’s a disgusting set of imagery for most Americans during a time of near depression level,” he said.

The expert also said that DeGeneres made a huge mistake in not apologizing publicly.

“If you have the means, you should work to take care of your people,” Schiffer said. “She needs to stop going on Instagram and show a level of gratefulness and develop some humility and apologize at a level that people will believe.”

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” ceased production in March before resuming filming from DeGeneres’ mansion on April 6. DeGeneres has yet to address any of the allegations against her, and it remains to be seen how they will impact her going forward.
