Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck shocked their millions of fans earlier this year when they rekindled their romance seventeen years after they called off their engagement. Now, a source has come forward to reveal what Ben’s best friend Matt Damon thinks about them getting back together and giving their relationship another shot.

“Matt is very happy for Ben and J.Lo,” the source told Entertainment Tonight. “They’re all close friends and get along well. It’s nice for Matt to see Ben be in such a great place in his life and in his relationship.”

The insider went on to say that all of Ben’s close friends can see how happy he is with Jennifer.

“Matt is glad that J.Lo and Ben are back together in this new, more mature way,” the source continued. “Ben is doing really well and all of his friends can see that.”

Last month, Matt revealed the difference that he sees in their romance this time around.

“I have to say, the press was particularly terrible to them, like, 18 years ago,” he said in July. “What’s nice is that at least they’re being nice this time around.”

Matt jokingly went on to add, “They’re on vacation right now, but he still responded when I hit him up about the Red Sox yesterday…You still have priorities!”

Jennifer and Ben reunited weeks after she broke off her engagement with baseball legend Alex Rodriguez. In the months since then, Jennifer’s romance with Ben has heated up fast.

“J.Lo and Ben’s relationship is serious,” the source said.

“They have insane, on another level, chemistry. They are both super passionate and are head over heels with each other, just like they once were,” the source continued “This time around, however, they both really feel like this is it.”

Back in January, months before they rekindled their romance, Affleck recalled how “mean” people were when they first started dating back in 2001.

“People were so f**king mean about her — sexist, racist, ugly, vicious s**t was written about her in ways that if you wrote it now you would literally be fired for saying those things you said,” he said on while appearing on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast. ”

“Now it’s like, she’s lionized and respected for the work she did, where she came from, what she accomplished — as well she f**king should be!” Affleck added. “I would say you have a better shot, coming from the Bronx, of ending up as like [Justice Sonia] Sotomayor on the Supreme Court than you do of having Jennifer Lopez’s career and being who she is at 50 years old today.”
