Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, is turning 40 this week. To mark the occasion, she’s hired Oprah Winfrey’s party planner to construct a “low-key” birthday bash for herself and her friends at her Southern California mansion.

Meghan reportedly hired top celebrity wedding and event planner Colin Cowie to organize her birthday after he was recommended to her.

“Meghan wants a small gathering. About 65 people are invited, her closest friends and family,” a source told The Mirror. “Colin was recommended to her by Oprah who always puts on fabulous parties.”

During her birthday party, Meghan and her guests will be treated to “grazing tables,” complete with locally sourced foods and wines. Harry also ordered a cake for her from a local bakery, Posies & Sugar, which creates cakes in a simple semi-naked icing look and decorates them with flowers.

Howie is a renowned party planner who was voted Vogue’s No.1 wedding planner and caterer in the north-east United States in 2018. His motto is, “The equation for the gold standard of service isn’t 1+1=2. It’s 1+1=3. What can you do to stay ahead of the curve?”

This comes months after Meghan’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah in which she held nothing back. Experts have since said, however, that she may have “burnt bridges” with this interview at a time when healing may have been a better option.

“I think the problem for Meghan was that she was angry, she was upset,” said royal author Tom Quinn. “I think that she thought when she entered the Royal Family she could shake them up and they would love it, she would do things Meghan’s way.”

“When that didn’t happen and she came up against what she saw as the forces of reaction it made her so upset that, that interview was her way I think the only way for her to get her revenge and put the case as she saw it,” he continued. “But I think later on she will think I shouldn’t have burnt my bridges to that extent.”

Meghan will be turning 40 this coming Wednesday. Her party will be taking place at the mansion in Montecito, where she lives with her husband and their two young children.
