Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck shocked the world last month when they rekindled their romance seventeen years after they broke off their engagement. Now, their romance is heating up, as a source is saying that Affleck is “slowly getting to know” her 13 year-old twins Max and Emme.
The insider told People Magazine that the twins are “onboard with starting fresh in Los Angeles,” where Affleck lives.
“They are slowly getting to know Ben,” the source said. “Everything seems to be running smoothly. It’s very obvious that Jennifer is serious about Ben. She hasn’t looked this happy for a long time.”
Another source said that Affleck and Lopez were seen being “very affectionate” with one another while out at dinner in Malibu, California with her kids.
“Ben and her kids seemed comfortable together,” this source said. “The kids kept chatting with Ben. Ben seemed great. He was smiling and laughing. They ordered a lot of food to share.”
Affleck is also a father, sharing three children with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. He said last year that he and Garner have always made a point of being united for their kids.
“When you have children with somebody you’re connected to them forever,” Affleck said at the time. “And I’m very lucky she is the mother of my children.”
“I’m very grateful and respectful of her,” he went on to say of Garner. “Our marriage didn’t work, and that’s difficult. Both of us really believe that it’s important for kids to see their parents respect one another and get along, whether they’re together or not.”
Affleck and Lopez first started dating in 2002 and became engaged the next year, regularly making headlines in the tabloids at the time under the couple name “Bennifer.” They ended their engagement in January of 2004.
A source recently revealed why Lopez and Affleck are more “hopeful about their relationship” this time around as they give it another go nearly twenty years later.
“J.Lo and Ben are very much a couple and have been telling friends that they’re together,” the source told Entertainment Tonight. “When they first reconnected, they had to see if the spark was still there because it had been a while. It was, so now they are both fully in it.”
The source added that the couple has “talked about the past and why things didn’t work out.”
“They are both hopeful about their relationship this time around and putting the effort in,” the source explained. “They have both matured and are on the same page and it has been easy.”
“Jen is elated and really trusts Ben. Ben is more traditional and low-key in his values and Jen is into that,” added the insider. “She likes that they can go on dates and have fun. She also thinks that Ben is extremely smart and has a lot of great input.”
