Surprising new reports are coming out stating that Prince Harry had a “tearful” phone conversation with his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy just one day before he married Meghan Markle back in 2018.

The Express reported that Harry dated Zimbabwean businesswoman Chelsy Davy off and on for seven years prior to meeting Meghan. Chelsy was even a guest at his wedding, though she was not invited to the more exclusive evening reception at Frogmore House.

A source said that one day before the wedding, Harry and Chelsy shared a “tearful phone call” in which they acknowledged that he was moving on with his life.

“It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on,” a source said. “Chelsy was quite emotional about it all, she was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding. In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn’t try and gatecrash the party.”

Harry and Chelsy met in Cape Town during his gap year back in 2004. They would go on to have a “turbulent” relationship and finally broke up for good in 2011 because Chelsy disliked being in the spotlight and did not like being associated with the British royal family.

Despite the break up, Chelsy and Harry stayed friends, and they each had several mutual friends. Royal expert Katie Nicholl said before the wedding that Chelsy and Harry have a lot of respect for each other, and that they were both willing to let go of the intense romance they shared.

“You sort of get the feeling that neither of them were quite ever willing to completely let go of that love affair,” Nicholl said. “They’d carved their names into one of the tree trunks on the family estate. It was such a love affair, it really was.”

Reports at the time even stated that Meghan gave Chelsy a hug at the wedding, showing that there were no hard feelings there whatsoever. She did this despite the fact that it is protocol for non-royals to curtsy to royals.

Meghan and Harry would go on to step down from the royal family in 2020 and move across the world to California. They have also had two children together.
