New reports are coming in stating that Prince Harry slept through phone calls that were trying to inform him that his grandfather Prince Philip had died at the age of 99 last month.

TMZ reported that a representative from the United States Embassy telephoned Harry just before 3 a.m. California time to let him know that Philip had died, but the call was not answered. The embassy finally contacted the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department and asked them to have an officer go to Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s home to tell him the news. The sheriff’s office complied and dispatched an officer, who went to Harry’s mansion and told him to call the embassy immediately.

Harry ended up traveling back to the United Kingdom for Philip’s funeral, which is something that he recently revealed he was “afraid” to do in his mental health docuseries “The Me You Can’t See.”

“I was worried about it, I was afraid about it,” Harry said, according to Page Six. “Going through the motions and being able to lean on the toolbox, and lean on the learnings that I’ve grown from over the past, it definitely made it a lot easier, but the heart still pounds.”

A royal expert spoke out this week to say that while the series is important, it’s yet another attack on the royals.

“The world is a better place for what Harry has done,” royal historian Robert Lacey told People Magazine. “But this is another blow for the British crown and royal family.”

British journalist and mental health advocate Bryony Gordon added that Harry has taken on “an important form of duty” by breaking the shame barrier around mental illness.

“This is a man who, at the age of 12, was sent out to walk behind his mother’s coffin and console the masses outside Kensington Palace,” she explained. “I just don’t understand why we’re now angry with him that that might have affected him.”

This comes two months after Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in which they claimed launched various attacks at the royal family. Though one royal insider said for Harry “to continue to target your family leaves little room for reconciliation,” he is determined to speak out about the importance of mental well-being.
