In the crazy world of Hollywood, it’s rare to find a marriage that is actually able to stand the test of time. That’s what makes Hollywood star Rob Lowe’s thirty year marriage to his wife Sheryl so special!

“Day in and day out, I choose to be with my wife,” Lowe, 56, told Closer Weekly. “I know I’m never going to find anyone I love more, who’s sexier or a better mother.”

Lowe was known as a teenage heartthrob in the 1980s after appearing in movies like St. Elmo’s Fire and About Last Night, and many thought that he would remain a wild bachelor forever.

“People always thought I was going to end up like Warren Beatty in Shampoo,” he admitted. “It turned out I was one of the first of my peers to get married and have kids. That guy was in me all the time, but the life I was leading wouldn’t let him out.”

Lowe first met Sheryl, 59, after they were set up on a blind date in 1983 by the actor Emilio Estevez. Their relationship initially went nowhere, but Lowe was pleased to see Sheryl again when she was hired as the makeup artist on his 1990 film Bad Influence. They started dating from there, and Lowe quickly realized that he wanted this relationship to last.

“It made me examine how I was living my life,” he said. “That led me to getting sober, which led me to changing my life — giving me everything I now have.”

Lowe has now been sober for thirty years, and his career is thriving. He and Sheryl are also parents to two sons, Matthew, 27, and John, 25.

“The thing in my life that I’m most proud of, for sure, is those two men,” he said.

Now that their two sons are grown and out of the house, Lowe and Sheryl are enjoying having more alone time together.

“I was blessed and lucky to marry my gorgeous, smart, funny and powerful best friend,” Lowe said. “If you’d have told me then, what we would accomplish together, I would’ve never believed it.”

Lowe and Sheryl will be celebrating their thirtieth wedding anniversary later this year. Please join us in wishing them a happy anniversary, and many more to come!
