A mailman from Richland, Washington has made the news for going above and beyond his expected duties. Recently, 5-year-old Alice Aardal wrote a letter to her mailman explaining how much she loved unicorns, and asking the postal worker if he’d bring one to her. Additionally, she drew a picture of a unicorn to make sure the mailman knew exactly what she hoped for in her unicorn.

Alice’s mom, Melissa, explained to local news outlet KOMO that Alice has come to view her mailman as a sort of Santa Claus due to all the packages he’s always delivering. So when her daughter came to her with the letter she had written and insisted on mailing it, Melissa humored her daughter but didn’t expect any type of response.
Surprisingly, a week later Alice found something special waiting for her outside the family’s front door. Their mailman had shown up with a special delivery of a pink stuffed unicorn, a unicorn puzzle, and a sweet, handwritten note that read:
“Dear Alice,
I spoke with the unicorn and we agreed her powers are too much for a little girl, but if you put enough love into this figure of her, she may come to life.
– The Mailman”

Alice was absolutely thrilled that her request was fulfilled, and the Marcus Whitman Elementary School kindergartner shared with KOMO that she named her unicorn “Twilight,” because of how sparkly it is.
The family said they have never personally met their mailman and don’t even know his real name, but are so touched by his big-hearted act of kindness. Melissa wrote the mailman a thank you note, and included a thank you charm bracelet made by Alice.
“Somebody went above and beyond and kind of made something real for somebody. That’s just so awesome that that’s happening and somebody was just so thoughtful,” Melissa said.
