Prince William and Kate Middleton may be royal, but when they’re at home with their three children, they’re just a normal family.

Like millions of other families all over the world, William and Kate have spent much of the past year at home amidst the coronavirus pandemic. A friend of theirs told Closer Weekly that they have been “embracing this time they have together as a family, rather than seeing it as a negative,” enjoying the time they’ve gotten to spend with their children: Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2.

The friend added that George is a little boy who loves science class.

“He is learning about the solar system and wants to be an astronaut when he grows up — as well as king!” the source said.

As for Charlotte, she wants to be a ballerina.

“She’s a creative little girl who loves the arts,” the friend added.

Meanwhile, Louis “was supposed to start nursery school, but that’s been put on hold.

“Kate and William are really disappointed,” the friend explained. “They think it’s important for Louis to meet other children his own age.”

Earlier this month, the three kids planned a fun party to celebrate Kate’s 39th birthday.

“The three of them love birthdays,” the friend said. “They made handmade birthday cards and William helped them bake and decorate a cake.”

Charlotte even got out her karaoke machine to perform her own version of “Happy Birthday” for her mom.

Though this year has been hard for William and Kate, just as it has been for everyone in the world, they are grateful to have a happy and strong marriage. Their friend revealed that they made a pact years ago to never go to bed angry.

“Lately, they’ve spent more time together than ever before. And yes, they bicker over little things sometimes, but their arguments are usually very short-lived,” the friend said. “Kate is definitely more stubborn than William, but she’s reasonable. Usually, she just needs some time to herself to cool off — and William gets it.”

While they can’t do real “date nights” amidst COVID-19, William and Kate always make sure to carve out time to be together, just the two of them.

They try to have dinner at home alone once a week or they will go on a walk to keep their connection strong,” said the friend, who added that Kate is loving living at their country estate of Anmer Hall.

“She definitely prefers living in the country,” the friend concluded. “She says life feels more normal there.”
