An 80 year-old ballerina is shattering stereotypes and showing the world that age really is just a number after she went viral with an incredible dance routine.
While ballet is a beautiful art form that has millions fans from all over the world, it is typically thought of as something that only young men and women can partake in. Madame Suzanne Poole, however, is not having any of that, as she is still performing incredible ballet routines at the age of 80.

Born in England in 1940, right in the middle of World War II, Suzanne can still remember her backyard being hit by a Nazi bomb. Thankfully, nobody in her family was hurt, and they moved to Canada once the war ended. It was there that Suzanne had her very first dancing lesson.
It was clear right from the start that Suzanne was born with a natural talent for dance, and she began dancing as a professional ballerina when she was only 10. From then on, Suzanne was traveling the world with her dance, and she even married a fellow performer who was an opera singer.
They eventually settled in Houston, Texas, where Suzanne teaches dance to this day, with her pupils knowing her as Madame Poole.
Suzanne enjoys teaching children as well as adults who are trying out dance for the first time. Surprisingly, she says that dance is not her first passion, as what she loves most is inspiring others.
“I like to help people,” she explained to Pressreader. “I was taught that by the people around me. And I believe ballet helps people. I have a joy for dancing. It’s definitely keeping me healthy at my age. It encourages me to move my body. Many people my age, they just sit. Dancing is good exercise.”

When she isn’t dancing, Suzanne enjoys writing poetry, and she even wrote a collection of poems to commemorate her grandfather.
