We previously reported that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would not be traveling back to the United Kingdom to celebrate Christmas with the royal family due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and would instead be staying in California. Now, their specific Christmas plans have been revealed.
“The couple will be spending Christmas at home in California quietly with Archie and Doria [Ragland] joining them,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.
Archie is their 1 year-old son, and Ragland is Meghan’s mother. The four of them will reportedly be spending Christmas in Meghan and Harry’s lavish new multi-million dollar mansion in Montecito.
“Meghan, who is an accomplished cook, will be preparing some of their favorite dishes with Harry and Doria pitching in,” the insider added.
This comes one week after Meghan and Harry were spotted out and about in California buying a Christmas tree at an unnamed tree barn. They went so unnoticed that one child even mistook Harry for someone who worked at the shop!
“Meghan and Prince Harry came into my work today and we sold them their Christmas tree,” tweeted @imaJaaaaaames. “We had our lot empty when they got there – their agent promoted them a good time to come instead of us shutting it down. There was one family in there and their stoked little son ran through trees up to Harry and asked if he worked here not knowing who that is.”
As for when Meghan and Harry plan to return to the U.K. next, the insider said, “While there had been plans to return to the U.K. for Meghan’s case against Associated Newspapers and the Mail on Sunday in January, given the postponement until next fall, there are no imminent plans to return to the U.K. given the travel restrictions related to the pandemic.”
A source had said in October that Meghan and Harry would “not be returning anytime soon” to the U.K.
“Things can obviously change, if there’s a concern about family health, but they are not hopping over the pond anytime imminently,” the source said, adding the royal family is following “social isolation guidelines” amid the coronavirus pandemic.
While the royal family is “disappointed” that they won’t be seeing Archie this holiday season, they undoubtedly understand why Harry has decided to remain at home with his family this year.
