It’s been just one month since the beloved “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek tragically passed away at the age of 80 following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Now, his fellow game show host Brooke Burns is opening up about meeting Trebek on the set of “Baywatch” when she was only 19, and she’s revealing if she’d be interested in taking his place hosting “Jeopardy!”

These days, Burns is the host of the game show “Master Mind,” but she got her start back in the 1990s acting on the show “Baywatch.” It was there that she met Trebek when he came on as a guest star.

“Alex came on as a celebrity guest and he played a fisherman that Mitzi Kapture and I had to rescue who slips off the rocks and she loses her chance to become a ‘Jeopardy!’ contestant because she’s now met him,” she told Fox News. “So that was the storyline. He was very kind and very witty. It was really fun to get to meet him.”

Burns was flattered when she was told that her name had been brought up on the internet as a potential replacement for Trebek as host.

“Oh, that’s so kind,” she said. “Of course, I love hosting trivia, so that would be an honor. I know they were looking at a couple of guest posts and my dear friend, Mr. Ken Jennings, I think is first in line for that. But if they want a female to come on and test it out once in a while, I think that would be quite an honor.”

Jennings is known for winning the most “Jeopardy!” games in history, and he will be the first in a list of guest hosts that will be taking Trebek’s place until a permanent host is found. Burns has been working with Jennings on “Master Mind,” and she’s clearly enjoying the experience.

“He’s intimidating in the beginning just because he is so smart,” Burns said of Jennings. “But he’s very witty and has a surprising sense of humor in the most random situations. That’s been fun to see play out because he’s so knowledgeable but also very genuine. He loves telling jokes. He’s a jokester on set, which was surprising for me.”
