Meet Lucy, Mitzy, and Winnie, three senior terriers who grew up together living in the same home.

Sadly, as their owner got older, she was no longer to take care of the dogs and had to hand them over to the RSPCA in Martlesham, England. Lucy, Mitzy, and Winnie are now aged 11, 10, and 9 respectively, which makes them a combined age of 168 in dog years! They’ve been together all their lives, and these dogs have no intention of separating now…

These days, it’s hard for animal shelters to find homes for any dogs, much less for seniors. On average, it takes 48 days for shelters to find homes for dogs over the age of 7, and these three dogs are all well past that.

Things were even more difficult when it came to Lucy, Mitzy, and Winnie, because the RSPCA had to find a home that would take all three of them together, since there bond is unbreakably strong.

“We know it will be difficult to find a home prepared to take on all three elderly dogs– but we don’t have the heart to separate them,” said Zoe Barrett, the deputy manager of the RSPCA’S Martlesham branch. “They are absolutely lovely, affectionate girls who have been together most of their lives. We know a lot of people are put off by adopting older dogs but these cheeky little terriers are still full of life and would be ideal for some families.”

RSPCA staffers fell in love with these three dogs, so they created a social media page for them in the hopes of finding someone who would take all three of them together. They described the dogs as very well behaved pets who love taking walks and cuddling with their owner.

“[Lucy, Mitzy, and Winnie] are the absolute best of friends so we would love to find them a nice cozy retirement home together, so they can spend the rest of their lives providing their new humans with 3 x the amount of love,” the RSPCA wrote.

Thankfully, these efforts have just paid off, because someone has just agreed to adopt these dogs! It seems that Lucy, Mitzy, and Winnie have found their forever home together, just as they hoped they would!

It warms my heart that these three dogs are going to get to spend the rest of their lives together!
