Fans of the legendary singer Marie Osmond are shocked this week after it was announced that she will be leaving the CBS talk show “The Talk” after just one season.

Osmond is reportedly leaving to work on other projects, including a new show with ViacomCBS.

“Marie is a consummate professional, and we thank her for sharing her personal experiences, insight, as well as incredible talents, with our audience,” CBS said in a statement to Deadline. “We will miss her humor, kindness and good nature, and wish her much success in her future endeavors.”

This announcement comes as “The Talk” is preparing for the start of production on season 11 earlier this month. It also comes after the departure of longtime “The Talk” executive producer and showrunner John Redmann, who had been with the show from the beginning. A replacement for him is expected to be announced before the premiere of the new season.

Osmond, 60, released a statement of her own saying that her exit from “The Talk” coincides with a major life milestone for her and her family.

“One of the highlights of my year at ‘The Talk’ was working with my dear friend John Redmann, and I’m excited to continue our working relationship on several projects we are developing,” she said. “Also, my husband and I just dropped our last two kids off at college, we looked at each other, laughed and remembered we hadn’t been this alone together since 1982!! So, at this stage of my life, I’m looking forward to spending more time with him and visiting all the kids/grandkids.”

Osmond joined “The Talk” in September of 2019, taking the seat that was vacated by the show’s creator, Sara Gilbert. She already had much experience with the program, as she had guest hosted it more than forty times.

When Osmond signed on, she joined panelists Eve, Carrie Ann Inaba, Sharon Osbourne and Sheryl Underwood. It is believed that season 11 will launch with just those four panelist until a replacement for Osmond is found.

Osmond has been as busy as ever as of late, as she just finished filming a starring role in the Lifetime holiday movie The Christmas Edition. She now has two more movies in development with the network after co-starring in the 2019 Lifetime holiday film The Road Home for Christmas.
