It’s always fun to see flash mobs break out in random places, with people showing their joy through the medium of dance. Now, a video is going viral showing a recent Bollywood flash mob that broke out in Costco for a very special reason.

Lucinda Chrisman and Monica Vantoch are two women from Santa Cruz, California who absolutely love to dance. When they learned that one of their friends wanted to celebrate being cancer-free for one year, they had the perfect idea for her.

Bollywood is a dance form that is loved around the world because combines colorful costumes, lively music and smiling faces. That’s why Lucinda and Monica went to work choreographing a Bollywood routine for their good friend. They then went to their local Costco to obtain position to give shoppers and experience that none of them will ever forget. To recruit people to take part in their flash mob, the women created a Facebook page.

“All levels welcome… enthusiasm is the key ingredient!” they wrote on the page. “We want to really embrace the surprise element of this and inspire smiles and fun and spontaneous dancing from onlookers! Invite anyone that wants to join us!”

When the big day arrived, over 50 people showed up to participate in the flash mob.

As shoppers browsed the store, the song “London Thumakda” began to play. Shoppers were stunned when a scene right out of a Bollywood movie unfolded right before their eyes.

“It was a simple idea to fulfill a wish and create light after a lot of dark,” the two friends wrote on the page.

The project ended up being a way for cancer survivors to express their contagious joy and celebration.

“People shared with us more stories of how cancer impacted their lives and how this dance, with the intention behind it, brought them hope and comfort,” they wrote. “We all were reminded of the wonder and magic of a true flash mob: that within the mundane and the hard, there still exists ecstatic joy and celebration everywhere, in everyone. Dance and music, from any part of the world, can unite us all in joy.”

This is such an amazing way to celebrate life! Check out the flash mob for yourself in the video below.
