A Missouri police officer is being praised for his sense of humor after he had a hilarious response to someone who accidentally texted him about getting high.

The Winfield Police Department in Missouri took to Facebook to share an exchange between one of their officers and a person who thought they were texting the girl who they previously got high with. When the person kept insisting that they had the right number, the officer decided to prove once and for all that he was not the girl they were looking for by sending a selfie that included his uniform and badge!

It all started at 5pm last Friday, when the person texted asking the “girl” if she’d like to go out later that evening.

“Hey, would you like to go to the game tonight? It won’t [cost] you, free hot dog & soda,” the message read. The officer then responded, “I would love to go to the game tonight! Sadly I think you have the wrong number. :(“

“With Shari & Diana. We got high together girl,” the person continued. “Get dressed & I will pick you up. In the truck remember?”

That’s when the officer sent the selfie showing his uniform and badge along with the caption, “Pretty sure we didn’t get high together”

“Are you still gonna come pick me up for the game though?” the officer then wrote, jokingly adding, “I was really looking forward to going to the game.”

“Wrong number,” the person responded, finally getting the message .

“I tried to tell you that but nnnooo, I don’t know what I’m talking about,” the officer teased.

“You can stop,” the person said along with a red stop sign emoji.

“We were invited to go to a baseball game tonight!!!!” the department wrote when sharing the photo on Facebook. “Unfortunately, we don’t think they are gonna come pick us up?‍♂️.”

Social media users have found the exchange to be absolutely hilarious.

“OMG!!! This is just waaaaaay too funny!!” one user wrote, while another added, “Best laugh I had all day thanks Winfield PD!!”

These days, it often seems like only negative stories about police officers make the news. It’s so nice to see a story go viral that shows off their fun side!
