Last week, we reported that Bindi Irwin, the 21 year-old daughter of the late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin, had become engaged to her longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell. Now, Bindi is opening up about her upcoming wedding and revealed how she plans to honor her dad at the ceremony.

After her engagement was announced, Bindi said that it was “bittersweet” for her because while she is enjoying planning her wedding, she is sad that her father can’t be present for it. Luckily, she has the love and support of her mother Terri and her younger brother Robert, both of whom think Chandler is the right guy for her.

Since Steve can’t walk Bindi down the aisle, she has already decided that she would like Robert to do it as a way to honor their father.

“I think that for me, it’ll be really important that Robert walks me down the aisle,” Bindi said. “That’s something that I really want to do. I’m always so grateful that Robert is there, and he has been such a big part of my life and he’s always stepped up and been the one to give me a hug when I need it and encourage me forward in life. So he will definitely be the one to walk me down the aisle when the time comes, and I think that will make it really special. And I think that’s what dad would have wanted as well.”

Steve would undoubtedly be very proud of the fact that his little girl is all grown up and getting married! Find out more about her wedding plans below.
