Patagonia, Chile is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful places in the world, and people travel there from all over to see the natural wildlife and scenery. Now, there is a new reason to go to Patagonia, as photos of the area’s Marble Caves are making people want to travel there more than ever before.

Patagonia is located right at the southern tip of South America, and it covers parts of both Chile and Argentina as well as the spot where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet.

One of the most breathtakingly beautiful spots there is Cuevas de Marmol, also known as the Marble Cathedral, in Lake General Carrera. The Marble Cathedral includes everything from columns and pillars to flying buttresses, all of which are completely natural and made of marble!

Notice that the way the water and caves look changes depending on the light.

The water is more turquoise in the spring, but in the summer, it changes to a deeper blue.

The water levels change the color of the caves as well. As the nearby glaciers melt (or freeze), the lake’s water levels change, causing the caves to change as well.

While we would all love to go to the 6,000-year-old “cathedral,” getting there is far from easy. To get there from the United States, you’ll need to take one or two flights, a lengthy road trip and a ferry. That’s quite a travel commitment, but it might be worth it when you get there!

Take a tour of the Marble Cathedral for yourself in the video below!
