The judges on “Britain’s Got Talent” are used to seeing acts that are interesting and unique, so it’s rare that someone truly shocks them onstage. Back in 2009, however, a 10 year-old girl named Hollie Steel did just that in the most delightful way possible!

When Hollie stepped onstage in her tutu, everyone naturally assumed that her talent would be ballet. They had no idea at the time that the little girl had some tricks up her sleeve that would knock the judges off their feet.

The elementary school student began her routine dancing to the classic song “I Could Have Danced All Night” from the musical My Fair Lady, and she didn’t seem too impressive at first. While Hollie certainly wasn’t bad, she looked like any normal 10 year-old who had taken a few ballet classes.

As she performed some simple hops and twirls, the notoriously to please judge Simon Cowell wrote her off immediately, and it was clear that he was wondering how she made it to the live audition.

Suddenly, Hollie stunned everyone by stopping dead in her tracks and starting to sing the song, and her voice could not have been more incredible!

Simon’s face instantly went from bored to blown away in just one second!

Nobody could believe that such an amazing voice was coming out of such a little girl! By the end of the song, Hollie got the standing ovation from the audience that she deserved.

The judges could not start praising Hollie quickly enough!
“It’s just ridiculous how much talent you have. The voice that came out of you I was stunned at,” said judge Amanda Holden, with Piers Morgan adding, “We’ve seen lots of children on this show in three series now. I have never heard any of them sing as well as you.”

Then, it was Simon’s turn, and it seemed at first like he was not going to be a fan.
“I didn’t like what you were wearing because you came over as just a typical little girl who wants to be a ballerina,” he began. “I wasn’t crazy about the song…”

But then the praise came!
“Then I heard you sing – and I think Hollie you’ve got a fantastic voice,” Simon added.
Needless to say, Hollie was on to the next round! Though she ended up coming in 6th place on the show, she continues to perform as a successful singer to this day. Check out her audition for yourself below!
