During high school, many people make friendships that last a lifetime. Texas A&M linebacker Tyrel Dodson is one such person who made a lifelong friend in high school when he met William Gawlas during their sophomore year.

The two have been best friends for years now, and Tyrel can often be seen cheering William on when he competes in the Special Olympics.

Tyrel and William met through a program at their school which matches volunteers with students with Down syndrome. The two have been close as can be ever since, and their friendship has helped Tyrel stay positive throughout his college football career.

When it came time for William to compete in the Special Olympics, Tyrel knew that he would not miss it for the world. William had always been there to cheer him on in football, so he was glad to have the opportunity to do the same for his good friend!

In the video below, you’ll see Tyrel heading off to support his best buddy. The video has quickly gone viral, touching the hearts of people all over the world.

“I’m so PROUD of you Tyrel! You do your best and let God do the rest!” one social media user commented, with another adding, “This is nothing less than amazing and this makes me smile. Keep it up Tyrel Dodson!”

“Thank you for doing this for my William,” a relative of William’s commented. “He talks about you all the time. You are his hero! Go get ’em!”
