Country music star Luke Bryan was recently performing at a VIP pre-concert in Georgia when he ran into his 88 year-old neighbor Bernice, much to his delight!

Between songs, Luke was talking about doing an outdoor summertime show with air conditioning.

“We have always done outdoor shows here, so we finally felt like, maybe one day in the summertime, we would let you all have a little air conditioning,” he said.

As Luke continued talking, members of the audience started yelling, “She loves you!” With a smile, Luke responded, “I love you too. Now how old are you?” Someone in the audience then says, “Eighty-eight! She’s your old neighbor,” and another person then adds “Bernice Williams.”

With a look of disbelief, Luke looked out into the audience and exclaimed, “Bernice Williams?” When someone says “yeah,” Luke drops his guitar and heads out into the audience to give her a hug.

“It’s good to see you! Are you good?” Luke told her, to which Bernice responded, “I’m just old.”

As he walked back up onstage, Luke said, “Now people say they’re you’re neighbor, but she is like, like my neighbor. Like, her house, my house. Not like house in between us. Yeah like that. Like my dogs ate her cat food.”

Luke grew up on a farm in Leesburg, Georgia, and he worked on his father’s peanut and fertilizer company as he also pursued music. Gradually, he got more and more successful until he was named country music Entertainer Of The Year in 2009, and his career continues to soar to new heights.

Luke’s touching reunion with Bernice shows that unlike most stars, he has not let fame go to his head. He is still the down to earth farm boy that he always was!
