A woman has left internet users divided after she took to the social media site of Reddit to say that she wants a divorce from her husband because she learned that he had fathered 47 children as a sperm donor.

A Reddit user who uses the name fedupwife1234 said she was stunned when her husband of eight years told her just how many children he had fathered. While she had always knew he was a sperm donor, she added, “I was… Not expecting that many.”

“It’s clearly my fault for not asking how many,” she said. “At the time, I literally said I ‘didn’t care’ about his sperm donation and ‘didn’t want to know,’ so I can’t blame him for not telling me how many. I literally told him not to.”

Her post immediately went viral, with many telling the woman that she should get over it and not let this end her marriage. They added that all she has to worry about going forward is the minor inconvenience of some of her husband’s children trying to get his contact info someday.

“Seems like the only problem that is guaranteed is you leaving him and upending your daughter’s life,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “You knew in advance, specifically asked not to know how many and have been married for years. What’s the real reason you want a divorce?”

Some users questioned whether or not the woman was just looking for excuses to end her marriage. In the end, most internet users were in agreement that this is not a good reason to divorce someone.

“He didn’t personally impregnate 47 women,” a third user wrote. “Don’t ruin your daughter’s life over this … Talk to a therapist or marriage counselor first.”
