When Sue Markham brought Yogi home, she knew she’d have to tell her husband something about the tiny pup. What she told him was a flat out lie to keep him from knowing the truth about the adorable black and white puppy until it was too late and he was already attached to him. The truth was huge, and would shock her husband.
Her husband, Robert, was not a dog lover. He didn’t want a pet in the house at all. He couldn’t fathom how a dog would fit into their tiny home. When Sue brought home a tiny puppy, she told him the littlest addition to the family was a Jack Russell Terrier. Although he wasn’t happy, the dog would stay small so he made due with the situation.
As time went by, it became obvious that Yogi wasn’t exactly what Sue had told her husband. When he went to the dog park, he was heads taller than all the other Jack Russell Terriers. Robert says he had a huge tongue that lolled out of the side of his mouth, and a tale that swung around like a baseball bat. Sue had to come clean about the puppy the family had come to love.

When Sue admitted to Robert that Yogi was actually a Boston Great Dane, he didn’t even seem that upset. He was already smitten with the new addition to the family and didn’t even care that his beloved pet would grow up to be bigger than he was.
Now as a nine-year-old adult dog, Yogi weighs in at a whopping 200 pounds and stands 6’11” when on his hind legs. He’s large even for the standard Boston Great Dane. Yogi has his own couch to watch television on that he shares with no one except a neighborhood cat named Toffee.

When he goes outside, Yogi donns a horse blanket for protection. He eats four scrambled eggs and sausages every day for breakfast, and sees himself as a full member of the family. He almost doesn’t think he’s a dog sometimes says Sue.
Although Yogi is literally the size of a horse, he’s still filled the hearts of the people who call him their own. What started out as a tiny black and white puppy, is now a ginormous dog and has filled their home with joy.
