The Academy of Country Music Awards took place on Sunday night, and one of the best moments of the show came when “This Is Us” star Chrissy Metz took the stage with singer Carrie Underwood to perform a stirring rendition of “I’m Standing With You” from the upcoming movie Breakthrough.

Metz began by singing the emotional song alone before she was joined by country music singers Carrie Underwood, Maddie & Tae, Lauren Alaina and Mickey Guyton. Metz has been a huge country music fan her entire life, and she was excited to have the chance to perform at the award show.

“I mean, you know, as a little girl, you always dream about something like this,” Metz said. “But to actually do it and to hold a stage with these incredible women … Are you kidding? It’s really exciting.”

“Music was my first love and I was really just sort of afraid of my own shadow,” the actress added.

Metz more than held her own next to the powerhouse country music performers.

“This is her debut TV singing moment, and I’m just honored to be a part of it,” Underwood said, while Guyton added, “She is so kind and loving and exactly that person that you see on TV. She’s that but like even that much better.”

Metz stars in the movie Breakthrough, which features her playing Joyce Smith, a mother who won’t give up on her teenage son after he falls through a frozen pond, remains underwater for 15 minutes and seems clinically dead for 45 minutes. “I’m Standing With You” was written for the movie by Diane Warren, and it is all about sticking with someone through thick and thin!
