A greedy bride is being called a bridezilla by internet users after she demanded to see her future mother-in-law’s income so she could determine how much the woman could contribute to her wedding.

The bride took to the social media site Reddit to say that she expects her mother-in-law to contribute to her wedding, and she is not happy that she does not seem keen to help.

“I’m about to get married in October. I love my fiancé to death. And my parents have been super supportive and sweet about our engagement and helping plan our wedding. The problem is his mom,” the bride wrote. “When we told her that we want to plan our wedding and get married soon, she was a bit in shock. When we asked her to help us (money) she absolutely said to him that she has no money and can’t help.”

She went on to say that she knew that her future mother-in-law does in fact have money, as she gets income for a property she rents out, plus social security from her ex-husband. Fed up with the mother-in-law not helping, the bride arranged a meeting with her parents and his mother to iron out the wedding details.

During this meeting, the bride said that everyone agreed they’d contribute $5,000 to the wedding, but her mother-in-law did not stick to her word on this. Furious about this, the bride had a fight with her partner, as she believes his mother is lying.

“I feel like his mother doesn’t want to pay for anything nor wants to help out. It’s lies after lies after lies,” she wrote. “I just wish she can be straight up and just tell me she doesn’t want help or pay for this wedding. I honestly don’t know what to do. I feel like she will always be like this in future, claiming that she’s ‘poor’ or has no income. What should I do? She wants to invite all her side of the family but doesn’t want to contribute.”

Social media users made it clear right away that they were not on the bride’s side.

“Probably better to just cancel the wedding now. You know it’s pretty bad when you can’t even make yourself sound like less of a monster telling your version of a story,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “If you can’t afford your own wedding, you shouldn’t get married.”
