Though she is an internationally known country music superstar, Dolly Parton has never forgotten her roots in Tennessee. That’s why it came as no surprise that she just decided to donate $200,000 to the eight volunteer fire departments who helped to battle the Tennessee wildfires back in 2016.

Dolly personally met with each of the fire chiefs in Sevier County to thank them personally for all that they did to fight the wildfires. She then informed them that she would be donating $20,000 to each fire station through her , as well as $40,000 for a new training facility.

“It is only fitting that the last of the My People Fund will go to those who were the first to respond to the fires,” Dolly said in a statement.

Tim Baker, the chief of the Walden’s Creek Volunteer Fire Department, expressed his gratitude to Dolly for her generous donation.

“We are so thankful for this donation to all of the fire departments and for our training center,” Baker said. “The Walden’s Creek VFD will use part of the money to purchase gear and part of the money to replace the roof on the station.”

“This is fantastic,” he continued. “We needed about $40,000 to meet our goal for the classroom and now we have it.”

On top of that, Dolly announced plans to donate $5,000 each to more than 800 families who lost homes in the wildfires through her foundation.

It’s so nice to see a celebrity who is doing so much to give back to the state where she came from. God bless you, Dolly Parton!
