When Barry Darcy of Cork, Ireland auditioned for Ireland’s Got Talent, the 38 year-old singer not only impressed them with his vocals, but also with his personal story.

After taking the stage, Barry opened up about the horrible situation he found himself in a few years ago.

“I had a herniated disc in my back and it crushed the nerves into my legs,” he said. “I just went to get out of bed one day and fell out on to the floor. They gave me a fifty-fifty chance of ever walking again, and I took it.”

This entire experience only brought Barry closer to his wife and two children, as it reminded him what his priorities in life should be. He praised his wife for standing by him, and described his family as a “solid, solid unit.”

Barry explained that he chose to sing the Elvis Presley song “The Wonder of You” because the lyrics of the tune captured how he felt about his wife and kids. As soon as Barry started to sing, the judges were completely blown away by his singing voice.

After he finished, judge Louis Walsh stood up and praised him for his talent. Then, Louis shocked Barry by hitting the coveted Golden Buzzer for him!

Barry could not help but break down in tears as his family ran onstage to congratulate him.

Barry is inspiring millions of people all over the world to maintain a positive attitude regardless of what they go through in life!
