A 25 year-old woman from Iraq just gave birth to septuplets in what is being called the first recorded septuplet birth in the Middle East.

The woman, who has not been identified, gave birth to the babies at a hospital in the Diyali Province of eastern Iraq. Six of the babies were girls while the seventh one was a boy, and the mother already had three children prior to this birth.

All of the babies were born healthy and the mother had no complications after the birth, which is very rare when giving birth to multiples.

The woman’s husband said that they were quite stunned to have septuplets, as they were not planning to expand their family in this way. The birth of the septulplets is the first of its kind in the Middle East.

“Well done Mum,” one social media user commented. “It was unexpected, but hopefully the father will pitch in with nappy changes, etc. They probably will need tones of nappies. Somebody should set up a gofundme for them so that we can all help them out.”

“Oh my goodness, what cuties! Please keep us updated!” another user added.
