Matt MacMillan is a young father who has become a viral sensation thanks to his clever photoshop skills which he has used to make hilarious images of his young son, who was born prematurely.

Matt’s son Ryan was born nine weeks premature and weighed under three pounds at birth. As Ryan spent the first six weeks of his life in the NICU, Matt and his wife decided to look at the situation positively, choosing to say that Ryan was “advanced” rather than premature.

When the couple finally took Ryan home, Matt decided to use photoshop to make it look like his son was doing various “manly” things. The photos have quickly gone viral, with internet users everywhere getting a big kick out of them!

Matt explained that some of the photos were harder to make than others.

“Each shoot took about 15-20 minutes,” Matt said. “Most of the work is in the setup and editing. First, I had to make props and find outfits for most of the pictures.”

“The next step was setting up the scene, framing the shot, arranging props, and setting up the lighting, where appropriate. Some of the setups were elaborate — like for the benchpress photo,” Matt continued. “For this one, I made a rig that hung from the ceiling. It mounted the camera and also held the barbell above Ryan so all he had to do was grip it, rather than hold it up.”

Matt has also gotten plenty of help from his wife, Alyssa.

“My wife often helped out by holding him so I could put his hands/arms/legs in certain positions, holding things,” he explained. “After I got the pictures of Ryan, I would take some shots of anything that he couldn’t actually hold, like the ax swinging or the fish on the fishing line.”

Matt offered a simple piece of advice for other parents of premature babies.

“My three pieces of advice for parents of premature babies are to be patient, be positive, and seek support,” he said.

These days, Ryan is six months old and is growing at a normal rate just like any other baby!
