Joey Wagner created an animal rescue foundation in Nova Scotia. He had seen plenty of sick, abused animals in his time, but one little puppy stood above the rest in Wagner’s mind. When he found the pup at just three months old, he couldn’t believe the abuse the poor pup had endured. He was determined to help him.
Wagner says when he rescued the pit bull puppy now known as Mojo, he suffered from a severe case of mange covering his entire body. His body was nearly hairless and was covered in sores and deep bruises. Wagner’s heart was shattered when he saw the poor thing. He gently picked him up and took him to an animal hospital for extensive care.
At the hospital, Mojo’s physical wounds began to heal and his hair began to grow back a bit. Unfortunately, Mojo was still an emotional wreck. When news of Mojo spread, people all over the world reached out to adopt him. Because of his hard start in life, however, the animal rescue foundation knew they wouldn’t be able to let just anyone adopt the puppy. He needed to go to someone who would never put him through the horrible things he’d already experienced.

Once Mojo was finally able to leave the animal hospital, his adoptive dad came to get him. Everyone knew who was going to take the healing puppy home, except for Mojo himself. Mojo’s excitement when he realized who had come to get him was truly emotional and endearing.
It was Wagner who had decided to make Mojo home to be a part of his family, and Mojo hadn’t forgotten the man that had saved him. As soon as the animal hospital staff sat Mojo on the table, he ran straight to Wagner and showered him with kisses. Wagner picked up the very happy, wiggly pup and they played together. The staff said Mojo hadn’t acted that happy since Wagner’s arrival, although he had played with them some.

Mojo has since grown into a beautiful young dog, although his hair hasn’t all grown back in the way it might have if he’d had a healthy start in life. Wagner can’t be happier to have such a wonderful pet as part of his family.
