Emma, 8, and her 9 year-old brother Josh are being hailed as heroes after they used their quick thinking to save the life of their neighbor.

Emma and Josh were playing outside at their home in Stillwater, Oklahoma when they suddenly heard screaming in the distance. The two kids were terrified at first, as they could not figure out where the screaming was coming from or who was yelling for help.

The siblings began following the voice and quickly realized it was coming from their neighbor’s property, which was separated from their’s by a fence. The two grabbed a chair to stand on and looked over the fence, which is when they saw a man pinned underneath a jeep in his driveway.

It turns out that their neighbor had been making car repairs when his Jeep fell off the jack and immobilized him underneath. Emma and Josh immediately ran inside and told their mother what happened, and she called 911 right away. The three of them then ran back outside and stayed by their neighbor’s side until first responders arrived on the scene.

Police said afterwards that they were expecting to find the man dead given the immense weight of the jeep, and that he would not have been able to survive under it for much longer. Emma and Josh have since been hailed as hometown heroes, as the man undoubtedly would have died were it not for their quick thinking!
