The sport of figure skating is highly competitive and skaters train nearly everyday with two to three practice sessions each day. It not only requires a demanding training and practice schedule but also a strict diet as well. Such discipline in adult athletes are impressive but when young children follow through with the same demands, it’s hard not to be inspired by them.
In the video below, you’ll see two children masterfully performing a breathtakingly beautiful routine on the ice to the song “Hallelujah.” They are truly examples of hard work paying off.

The two skaters are being coached by Ilya Izyaslavovich Averbukh, a Russian ice skater who has a 2002 Olympic silver medal. Ilya decided to become a coach after he retired from the sport, and these two children are part of “Team Ilya Averbukh.”
Ilya decided to choreograph this ice routine to Rufus Wainwright’s cover of “Hallelujah,” and it certainly does not disappoint! The audience was a bit confused at first when the two kids began the routine laying their backs on the ice.

Once the two kids got up, their skating was pure magic! The judges were astounded when the boy was able to pick up the girl and twirled her around, and the audience’s hearts melted when he gave her a cute kiss on the cheek!

Though they are very young, it should come as no surprise that these two dancers made it to the finals of this competition. It’s clear that they both have long careers in figure skating ahead of them!
Video of their performance has quickly gone viral, being viewed over 1.5 million times! There really is nothing like seeing a beautiful routine on ice.
