A nursing home in Regina, Canada threw Elsie Shepherd a birthday party to mark her 100th birthday.
Before the party, Elsie had told nurses at the facility that aside from her family, she was hoping that police officers would be at her party. The nurses promptly called up the RCMP Depot Division and asked if any Mounties would be willing to attend. Sure enough, the Mounties were happy to oblige!
Elsie was ecstatic when Cpl. Daryl Chernoff and three other police officers showed up for her birthday party. During the festivities, Daryl overheard Elsie say multiple times that she wished that she could dance. Determined to make her 100th birthday wish come true, Daryl walked up to Elsie and asked if she would be willing to dance with him. He then asked her family if they wanted to join them, and when all of them had accepted, he took Elsie’s hand and brought her to the dance floor.
“She was ear-to-ear smiles,” Daryl said. “I was able to take her out to the dance floor and we had a conversation there and you could see the smile on her face, she just couldn’t stop.”
Video of Elsie’s birthday dance has gone viral, being viewed over 450,000 times!
“Can’t love this enough. I know they made Aunt Elsie’s century for taking the time to come and dance at her Birthday!” one of Elsie’s relatives commented on the video.
We applaud Cpl. Daryl Chernoff for making Elsie’s birthday wish come true! Watch their dance below!
