Energy drinks are very common these days, with people drinking them in an attempt to boost their energy. Now, however, a woman is speaking out to warn others about just how dangerous energy drinks really are.
Years of research have suggested that energy drinks can have serious health consequences leading to liver damage, increased blood pressure, tooth erosion, and more. What happened to Kevin Harley after he consumed an energy drink, however, was near fatal.

One Saturday morning, Kevin drank his usual pre-workout energy drink just before going to his local YMCA. Just minutes after Kevin got on the treadmill, he went into cardiac arrest.
“I got 15 minutes into my run and that’s when all of a sudden, just instantly, I couldn’t breathe,” Kevin recalled. “I broke out in this cold sweat. That’s all I remember. The next thing I knew, it was Monday.”

Doctors were forced to put Kevin into a medically induced coma so that they could figure out what happened to him. When they examined him, they found green liquid from his stomach that was slime-like. While Kevin’s wife Daphne did not remember what he had eaten that morning, she did did recall seeing a container with green pre-workout powder in his locker room.

Doctors ended up concluding that Kevin’s pre-workout drink played a huge role in what happened to him. Daphne has since come forward to warn others about the dangers of energy drinks, saying that you should avoid them altogether. She is also saying that you should go slow at the gym and be sure to listen to your body while you are there.
