A man was recently trying to kidnap a woman in North Carolina when he followed her into a karate dojo. Once he got inside, however, things took a nasty turn for him.
Randall Ephraim, the head instructor of Bushiken Karate, Charlotte Dojo, said that he was cleaning up his studio when the woman suddenly came running in.
“There were still some kids in the dojo being picked up by parents and a couple of adult students cleaning up when a young lady came through our doors and stated that someone was trying to harm her,” he said. “Shortly afterward, a big male entered the building. Not knowing what he wanted, I assumed he was inquiring about classes.”
“I asked how I could assist him and he stated that he was there for the lady,” he continued. “She insisted that she did not know him and tried to kidnap her.”
The suspect, who was 47, had tried to force the woman into his car, but she managed to run away. Randall first politely asked him to leave, but the man refused and instead started “aggressively swinging” his way further into the dojo.
Randall proceeded to force the man outside of the dojo, where the kidnapper tried to physically attack him. This turned out to be a very bad idea for the perpetrator. Randall said that the suspect was “dealt with accordingly.”
In the end, the kidnapper had to be wheeled away in a stretcher. He has since been arrested and charged with drug use and kidnapping. He’ll undoubtedly think twice before he attacks a karate instructor again!
