It’s that time of year again when many of us make our New Year’s resolution. Some people promise to start eating better, others to stop smoking or drinking, and many to lose weight.

Sadly, many times we start out on the right foot but it doesn’t take long before we give up on our goals. But that isn’t the case with one young lady. If you need some inspiration to lose a few pounds, she is definitely your girl.

It was September 2014 and Monet received some devastating news from her doctor. She weighed just shy of 375 pounds and her doctor had diagnosed her with polycystic ovary syndrome. The condition makes it extremely hard to lose weight and Monet even had to have emergency surgery because her weight had ballooned so high it had caused her to flatline numerous times.

The last time she pulled through, but doctors told her that her health was so bad that she would never be able to be a mother and her health was at risk. She was devastated, but determined to prove them wrong. Monet decided that she wanted to lose weight the healthy way by exercising. She would start by walking, swimming, and lifting light weights. She also cut her daily calories to 1,500 and gave up soda and chips.

Monet also started on a ketogenic diet which is a strict low carb, high-fat diet. This new way of eating helped her to burn more calories and she dropped an amazing 177 pounds in 10 months. She now walks about an hour each day, although a keto diet doesn’t require you to exercise to be successful.

Now that the weight was much better, Monet decided to tackle the psychological issues that had caused her to gain so much weight in the beginning. She says, “Until you fix your emotional issues and your past and present pain, you won’t truly be successful… no matter what you do or try. You won’t be successful until you shed the weight that isn’t physical.”

Monet has now successfully reversed the polycystic ovary syndrome and has proved doctors wrong. She has had not one, but two children since they told her she’d never be a mother.

But Monet still isn’t done. She went on to lose additional weight and has dropped an amazing 200 pounds in just four years. What an inspiration! Be sure to share this outstanding lady with your family and friends in case they need a bit of motivation.
