While it may not have been the most convenient thing at the time, one Chicago McDonald’s cashier shocked the other restaurant patrons when he shut down his cash register to help the elderly man with one simple request. The man asked for help and the cashier responded in a very special way.
Facebook user Destiny Carreno says she was in line at the busy McDonald’s during their rush hour. An elderly gentleman who appeared to be handicapped with quadriplegia wheeled up next to a cashier in his wheelchair and after several tries, finally got across that he needed help. Carreno says she was anxious to see how the clerk responded, because her uncle has the same condition.
The cashier, Kenny Soriano-Garcia, shocked her with his reply to the elderly man’s request. He shut down his register, donned a pair of gloves, and went and helped the man cut and eat his food. Something that many people wouldn’t have even considered doing.

Carreno was so impressed with Kenny’s actions that she snapped a quick picture of him helping the gentleman and posted it to her Facebook page. The post has been shared over 300,000 times on social media and gained the attention of several news stations who reported the kind actions of the McDonald’s cashier.
Kenny was recognized by the McDonald’s franchise for his exemplary customer service in a ceremony thanking him for his kindness and great service. Owner Rob Lubeznik says Kenny’s actions are a true testament to the kind of person he is and show that one simple act of compassion can touch the hearts of thousands of people.
