A few weeks ago, millions of people all over the globe tuned into the Miss Universe pageant. One year previously, Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters had been crowned Miss Universe, and it was up to her to crown the new winner this year.

Demi-Leigh is the girlfriend of Christian football star Tim Tebow, who could not be more supportive of her.

“She is a really special girl and I am very lucky and blessed for her coming into my life,” Tim said of her.

Tim and Demi-Leigh met at his annual “Night to Shine” event, where young people of all disabilities attend a prom created just for them. Demi-Leigh’s sister has special needs, which led her to create her own charity to help people with disabilities. Their mutual passion for helping people with special needs bonded Tim and Demi-Leigh immediately, and they have been inseparable ever since!

Like Tim, Demi-Leigh has a strong love for God, and she decided to show this to the world by making a statement before she gave up her crown.

“First, all glory goes to my Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ,” Demi-Leigh said, proclaiming all her blessings have came through with God in her life.

These days, it’s rare to see a celebrity make such a powerful Christian statement. We applaud Demi-Leigh for using this platform to give thanks to God, and we wish her and Tim many years of happiness together!
