While many styles of dancing are popular these days, there is one style that many have forgotten. We see ballet, tap dancing, jazz dancing, and much more, but Irish river dancing seems to have gone by the wayside.
Fortunately, thanks to some young dancers, the traditional dancing is making a comeback and there are now even dance competitions taking place for these youngsters to compete in. River dancing is a modern adaptation of the traditional Irish dancing, although they both have the same history. Irish step dancing was part of the Irish culture between the late 16th century and early 17th centuries.
The traditional dancing is something that the women and men did to celebrate certain events. Eventually troupes were formed and traveled around performing together all over the world. These troupes shared their skills and brought a bit of cheer and rambunctiousness to the mundane lives of the people who came to watch them.
Although this style of dancing isn’t as popular as it used to be, there are still people trying to keep this form of dancing alive. This talented group of young dancers are some of them.
Check out their amazing performance in the video below and be sure to share it with your family and friends.
