When each year comes to an end we like to reflect back over the past year and think about all the good times and the bad. Over the past year we’ve lost a variety of celebrities and famous people.

While we may be saying goodbye to these public figures, the memories we have of them aren’t likely to go away any time soon. So, check out the list below and see who we’ll be missing come next year.

Anthony Bourdain – This celebrity found fame in more area than one. He was a famous author, chef, and television host. Sadly, he died by suicide at the age of 61. His friends say he’d been struggling with depression for years.

Avicii – This popular Swedish DJ and music producer died by suicide at the young age of 28 after struggling with chronic pain and health struggles for several years.

Aretha Franklin – This celeb earned her nickname “the Queen of Soul” after having numerous chart-topping hits over a career that spanned back into the 1960’s. She’ll likely be most remembered for her hit song “Respect.” She died from a pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor at the age of 76.

Bill Daily – This celeb starred in several sitcoms including “I Dream of Jeannie” and “The Bob Newhart Show.” He died of natural causes at the age of 91.

Billy Graham – This prominent Evangelist was known world wide as a spiritual leader and adviser to multiple U.S. presidents. He died at the age of 99, but had been treated for cancer, pneumonia, and Parkinson’s disease over the years.

Bradford Dillman – He had a decades long acting career and starred in films like “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” and “Compulsion.” He died at the age of 87 from complications of pneumonia.

Burt Reynolds – This is one of the most popular and profitable actors of the 1970’s and 1980’s. He starred in films like “Smokey and the Bandit” and “The Longest Yard.” He died at the age of 82 following a heart attack.

Charlotte Rae – This actress was known as the housekeeper on both “The Facts of Life” and “Diff’rent Strokes.”She died of bone cancer at the age of 92.

Doreen Tracey – She was one of the original Mouseketeers on The Mickey Mouse Club” and died at the age of 74 due to pneumonia after fighting cancer for years.

Dolores O’Riordan – She was the lead singer for the band The Cranbarries. Her unique voice made the Irish band’s songs international hits. She died at the age of 46 due to accidental drowning.

David Ogden Stiers – He made us laugh as Major Charles Winchester II on “MASH” and provided voices for a variety of Disney characters over the years including Cogsworth from “Beauty and the Beast.” He died of bladder cancer at the age of 85.

Dorothy Malone – She starred in “Peyton Place” and won an Oscar for her role in “Written on the Wind.” She died of natural causes just days before turning 94.

Frank Parker – This actor spent 25 years on the set of “Days of Our Lives” and died from complications of Parkinson’s disease at the age of 79.

George H.W. Bush – America’s 41st president and father to President George W. Bush Sr. was a U.S. Navy pilot in World War II. He died at the age of 94 due to complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Harry Anderson – This magician and actor was known for his role as Judge Harry Stone on “Night Court.” He died at the age of 65 following several strokes.

Jerry Van Dyke – He was the younger brother of Dick Van Dyke and often appeared in shows alongside his older brother. He died of heart failure at the age of 86.

John Mahoney – He was most famous for playing Kelsey Grammer’s father on the sitcom “Frasier”, but also had a career in film. He died of throat cancer at the age of 77.

John McCain – A long time U.S. senator, McCain also served as a pilot in the Vietnam War. He died at the age of 81 from brain cancer.

Kate Spade – This fashion designer was found dead due to suicide in June at the age of 55.

Katherine MacGregor – This actress played the crabby Harriet Olson on “Little House on the Prairie.” She died at the age of 93.

Ken Berry – This “Mama’s Family” and “F Troop” star was also a Korean War veteran. He died at the age of 85.

Mac Miller – This rapper and singer is known for his songs like “Best Day Ever” and dating singer Ariana Grande. He died from a drug overdose at the age of 26.

Margot Kidder – Kidder was a scream queen that starred in horror flicks like “The Amityville Horror” but her true role was that of reporter Lois Lane in the “Superman” films. She was found dead from suicide at the age of 69.

Marty Balin – He was a co-founder of the rock band Jefferson Airplane. He died at the age of 76 but his cause of death was not released by his family.

Neil Simon – He was a famous playwright that inspired several films and TV series based off of his hit “The Odd Couple.” He died at the age of 91 due to Alzheimer’s Disease and pneumonia.

Peggy McCay – This “Days of Our Lives” star also had roles in “Gunsmoke” and “Perry Mason.” She died of natural causes at the age of 90.

Reg E. Cathey – This actor will be best remembered for his roles in “House of Cards”, “Luke Cage”, and “The Mask.” He was 59 years old when he succumbed to lung cancer.

Richard “Old Man” Harrison – This is the cantankerous pawn store owner and father of Rick Harrison from the show “Pawn Stars.” Rick called him his hero after he died from Parkinson’s Disease at the age of 77.

Ricky Jay – This magician and actor appeared in “Boogie Nights” and “Deadwood.” He died at the age of 72 due to natural causes.

R. Lee Ermey – This real-life staff sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps won a Golden Globe for his performance in “Full Metal Jacket.” He also played the toy soldier Sarge in “Toy Story.” He died at the age of 74 from complications of pneumonia.

Robin Leach – He was the host of the show “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous.” He died at the age of 76 due to complications of a stroke he suffered in 2017.

Roy Clark – This “Hee Haw” star and country guitarist died at the age of 85 due to complications of pneumonia.

Scott Wilson – This celebrity’s acting career lasted five decades but will be most remembered for his role as Hershel Greene on “The Walking Dead.” He died at the age of 76 due to leukemia.

Stan Lee – Lee created Marvel Comics characters such as Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, and many more. He died of cardiac arrest related to pneumonia at the age of 95.

Stephen Hawking – He was a world-renowned physicist and author that had lived with the chronic degenerative condition ALS for decades. He died at the age of 76.

Tab Hunter – This actor was a heartthrob on the Hollywood scene in the 1950s. He came out as gay in 2005 and died just before his 87th birthday due to a deep vein thrombosis.

Verne Troyer – Troyer was only 2 feet 8 inches tall due to cartilage-hair hypoplasia. He played Mini Me in the “Austin Powers” film series. He died at the age of 49 due to suicide.
