None of us ever plan to find ourselves tied up in zip tie handcuffs, but just like other things, it is important to be prepared for any situation. That’s why it is important to check out the video below.

If you find yourself being tied up by someone who is trying to harm you, of course you will want to find a way to escape. Thanks to the YouTube star “Crazy Russian Hacker,” now you can have one more way to escape.

With his hack, you won’t even need any special tools or equipment to escape either. You just need a pair of sneakers on your feet with some sturdy shoe laces. You probably thought your shoes would come in handy to run away from a kidnapper, but in this case, they’re going to help you get free too.

According to the video, you need to wait until your captor is where they can’t see you, or hear you. This may take a bit of effort and you don’t want them to see or hear what you are up to.

Next, reach down and untie your shoe laces. Lay the first untied lace along the back of your shoe so the end is hanging down. Place your tied hands back by the hanging down shoe lace. Now, maneuver the end of the shoe lace through the gap in the zip tie. This may take a bit of focus, but remember, this could be the difference between life or death. So focus!

Once the shoelace is through the gap, grasp it with your fingers. Tie this shoelace to the end of the other shoe lace. Now, pull tightly up and rub the laces back and forth against the plastic zip tie.

Ideally, the friction from the rubbing shoe lace will burn through the zip tie and release you. I’ll bet you never thought your shoelaces would be good for something like this!

Although this may not work every time, it is a good idea to keep this little survival tip in your memory bank. In the event you ever find yourself in the company of the wrong people, you’ll know exactly what to do.
