Most cats live to be at least 16 years-old, and the oldest cat in history even lived to be 38! This cat was named Creme Puff, and he passed away in 2005.
Since then, no cat has come close to taking Creme Puff’s crown as the oldest cat ever, until now! Rubble just celebrated his 30th birthday and according to his human mom, he’s got a lot of life in him still.

When Michele Foster adopted Rubble thirty years ago, she never imagined he would still be with her today. He was born in April of 1988 and she adopted him one month later, when she was 20 years-old. Today, she is 50 and he is 30!

“He’s a lovely cat, although he has got a little grumpy in his old age,” Michele said.”He has plenty of life left in him yet, but I don’t think we will go down the Guinness World Record route as I am not sure he would like lots of people coming to see him or a fuss being made out of him. He is old now and would not like too much attention or be hassled. We would prefer if he was just left to live out his old age in peace.”

Rubble has a few problems that come with old age, including high blood pressure, but he is being cared for well by City Vets.
Michele believes that Rubble has lasted this long because she has always cared for him as if he was her child.
“If you care about something and someone and really love them, that goes a long way,” she said. “I have always treated him like a child – I don’t have any children and had another cat called Meg – who passed at the age of 25. If you care about something, no matter what it is, it does last.”

We hope Rubble has many happy birthdays to come!
