Winter can create some beautiful scenery outside. Everything is covered in ice and snow and sparkles in the sun. But as beautiful as that scenery can be, it can also be dangerous. That is exactly what happened to a red deer in Siberia, Russia. Luckily the deer was found by some hunters, but had fallen through the ice and was floating in the frozen Barguzin River.
It took over four hours for the men to rescue the deer. They had to cut a path out of the frozen river to pull the deer out, then came the task of warming the deer up. Although you may not think of hunters as the kind of people that would rescue an animal, most hunters won’t kill an animal just for fun. That’s why these men were quick to jump to the rescue of the deer when it’s life was at stake.

After freeing it from the river, the men began a fire and started rubbing the animal trying to restore its circulation. After some effort outside, they decided the deer needed to be taken to an indoor location. They wrapped the deer in heavy blankets, loaded it on a trailer, and took it to a heated garage where they continued their efforts. They even fed it lard and a bit of vodka to help warm it from the inside.
Little by little their efforts paid off and the deer began moving its legs, then raising its head up off the ground. Before long, the animal was ready to be sent back out into the forest.
As soon as the deer hit the outside, he was off and running back into the trees. Check out the remarkable video below and be sure to share it with your family and friends.
