Meghan Markle has only been an official member of the British royal family for six months, so it’s understandable that she’s still adjusting to the numerous rules and protocols that come with being a royal. Now, it’s been revealed that she has had a particularly hard time adjusting to the numerous fashion rules that royal women must follow, and that palace aides have criticized the way that she’s been dressing.

A source said that after Queen Elizabeth “raised eyebrows” at Meghan’s fashion choices, fashion teams were brought in to visit Kensington Palace and help her out. One source with these fashion teams said, “Meghan is being told she needs to start dressing less like a Hollywood star and more like a royal.”

Meghan has broken numerous royal fashion rules in the past six months by doing things like wearing clothes that were not designed by British designers. She also has refused to give up her fondness for wearing black, which the royals typically only wear when they are in mourning.

For example, over the summer, Meghan raised eyebrows by wearing  black tuxedo to a special performance of the musical Hamilton. She also dared to expose her bare legs a few inches above the knee, which is typically never done by royals. Outfits have shown that Meghan has a somewhat rebellious attitude when it comes to the royal fashion rule, and it appears the Queen is trying to reign her in by bringing in these fashion teams. It remains to be seen whether Meghan will give into this pressure, or if she will continue to rewrite the royal fashion rules!
