Two billion people from all over the world tuned in last May to watch Prince Harry marry Meghan Markle in what many called the wedding of the year. One of the most touching moments came when Harry’s father Prince Charles stepped in to walk Meghan down the aisle after her own father, Thomas Markle cancelled at the last minute.
Now, Harry is opening up about this moment to give his father credit for saving his wedding.
“I asked him to and I think he knew it was coming and he immediately said, ‘Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you,’” Harry said in the new documentary “Prince, Son, Heir: Charles at 70.”
“For him that’s a fantastic opportunity to step up and be that support, and you know he’s our father so of course he’s gonna be there for us,” Harry continued.

Right after the wedding, Thomas Markle gave an interview in which he recounted the moment he told his daughter and Harry that he would not be able to come to the wedding.
“They were disappointed. Meghan cried, I’m sure, she did cry, and they both said, ‘Take care of yourself, we are really worried about you,’” Thomas said. “They said the important thing was that I get better.”
Luckily, Charles stepped in to save the day, and he ended up being the perfect person for this job! Sources say that the moment gave Charles and Meghan a special bond that has only gotten even stronger since the wedding.
